How did this school get the name "Abner"?

The name Abner comes from the Old Testament in the Bible. In First and Second Samuel you can read about Abner being the chief officer of Saul's army. He was present when David fought Goliath. The name Abner means, "My father is a lamp". This is why we use a sun (a source of light) in our logo and why our slogan is, "Shining Light on Life Building Experiences". We hope to be a source of light in the development of your child.

How is our environment different from traditional environments?

Our learning environment is scientifically developed and devoted to nurturing the development of your child, inspiring creativity and culturing a life-long love for learning.

Abner Montessori's hands-on learning experience encourages students to learn by trial, error, and discovery. As a result, students become engaged in the learning process. They gain a sense of accomplishment, closure, self-confidence and self-respect while developing a strong sense of order, independence, and personal responsibility.

Our learning environment is a connection between critical thinking, composition, research, history, arts, science, mathematics and life application skills. Our challenging curriculum uses a phonics-based reading program resulting in quick comprehension in younger students. The Montessori approach is consciously designed to teach students life skills such as grace, courtesy, compassion, kindness and respect.

Abner Montessori has an active learning environment allowing children to learn lessons in a way natural to their curiosity. Learning in this environment reinforces independence, stimulates intellectual development, and allows learning to become its own reward.
